Alpine Nursery was started by Judith and Alvie Lind in 1950. In the beginning, they sold perennials at Market Square in La Crosse . Their youngest son, Ben, loved to go with Mom and Dad on these days, and decided that he wanted to become a horticulturist. Ben has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota . He worked with Dr. Leon Snyder at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum while in college and then taught horticulture at Chaska High School for 20 years.
Ben and Linda purchased Alpine Nursery from Ben’s parents in 1985. Linda is a University of Minnesota Extension Service Master Gardener . Our business goal is to remain a small family business and to provide our customers with personal service. We only select plants that are locally grown and recommended for our climate. We appreciate the opportunity you have all given us to serve your gardening needs these past 65 years.
